Download The Software
You can download the software from the Apple store or Google Play. Look for the Smart Pulse App.
What is Being Measured?
The device is using the flow of blood into your finger to measure the flexing of your arteries as the heart pumps blood into them. As the heart contracts, blood is forced into the arteries and they should flex (expand and contract). This is called “arterial compliance”. Arteries should be very flexible. Old age can cause arteries to stiffen a little bit, though older people with healthy life styles can have very good arterial flexibility. More importantly, plaque can cause arteries to stiffen in people of all ages. So hard arteries is a huge warning sign that our machine can alert you to.
Why Am I Getting Irregular Results?
Cold hands can affect the machine dramatically. Make sure your hands are warm and you have decent circulation before the test. Also do not drink caffeine before the test. Ideally no caffeine for 4 hours before testing to get the best results, but certainly no caffeine shortly before the test.
What Devices Can the Software Be Used On?
The SmartPulse does come with software that will load onto an android or iOS smartphone or tablet. It is also possible to load the app onto windows 10 or Mac Os, so you can put it on a computer as long as the computer has bluetooth capabilities. You can also connect to computer with a USB cable through the device was designed for bluetooth and the interface is not as well set up for USB.
